I feel like in hiring, especially remote workers, not many talk about actually enjoying who you work with.
Most just want to fill a seat.
As a business owner, I want to look *forward* to meeting with my team.
If I dread interacting with them, what am I doing this for?
Same goes for my current team members - they want to enjoy talking with each other.
I can’t throw a wrench in just because they can work hard.
In our interview process, the first one is about what makes them tick.
Then our followup is about culture fit.
My team captain has to think they would mesh well with the team.
Now, they don’t need to be my best friend. We have our boundaries - they know I mean business. If I don’t enjoy talking to someone, I won’t.
Which is hardly a team at that point.
So it’s one of our “must haves” for hiring:
Enjoy working with this person
